If I were to make a list of awesome things, new issues of Liz Mason's Awesome Things zines would be high up on it. Not only do we just have the new issue #4, we also re-stocked issues #1-3 and got in the latest issue of her Caboose zine. All this up in the shop!
I'm so excited to see that my zine was reviewed over at The Well Appointed Desk as Ana's red / blue reviews were an inspiration for Issue #15.5. Direct link to the article here www.wellappointeddesk.com/2021/10/pencil-zines/ and zine available in the store.
Here's a great little write up by Issue #15.5's cover girl Tina Koyama on her blog Fueled by Clouds and Coffee explaining the process of how the latest issues cover came about. Direct link to the article is here tina-koyama.blogspot.com/2021/09/im-pencil-of-week-cover-girl.html
Super shout out to Andria and Steve for putting together Pete's Mini ZineFest 2021. This years event was awesome and much needed after so much isolation over the last however many months. Great to see folks out in the wild!
Come by Pete's Candy Store to shop for some zines and have a few adult beverages while you're at it. The only zine fest that takes place inside a bar, running ten years strong now. Oh, and make sure you bring your vaccination cards as they are necessary for entry.

The original part personal / part work / part pencil review zine Pencil of the Week is back with the latest issue, #14. This one features a guest artist for the cover and and contributor filling out the final two weeks. I joined up with the Posse awhile back and recorded a podcast with em'. For an hour you can listen to me talk about pencils, zines and my undying love for New Jersey. Listen to episode #118 here podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/art-supply-posse/id1119393753 or anywhere you like to get podcasts from.
Over the last two days I've been putting up a bunch of new stuff I don't don't what the hell took so long, but The Word Distro is now officially in the Liz Mason business. Liz, of Quimby's bookstore fame, has been doing Caboose for a good while now but we just got into the game over here. Each issue is about a different topic and all are wonderful. Two new zines from Billy McCall including his debut CD w. zine (or is it a zine w. CD?) Handshakes, Fist Bumps, etc... Three more from Liz Mason. What's better than one awesome zine about awesome things? How about three of them! And finally last years issue of We'll Never Have Paris which is great because if you haven't read it yet, it's still new to you.
Yes, there are other things that come out of Philadelphia and one of them are zines! I got a nice lil' offering from Joe Carlough and independent publishing partner in crime Katie Haegele the other day. Check out the shop for more info. Also peep out Joe's site for some great lo-fi fun thisandthattapes.com/releases
